The legacy
|
|
|
Fellow scouts from the world, try to understand
the teachings from the Patrol System. Let's unravel our
true job in scouting and form real leaders, understanding
that the leader is not just the one who leads as it often
happens in our society, the leader adjusts to the setting,
gets involved with his men and women, personalizes motivation,
distinguishes the qualities of each and makes them available
to the rest, improvises, leads through the example, takes
the first step, knows the consequences of what he/she does,
tightens or slackens the reins when necessary, helps the
one in need, shares his knowledge and deciphers the unknown.

Roland Philipps' contribution is not limited
to the scout's life, on the contrary, it takes the scout's life
as a means for the youngster to go beyond the real world so he
can apply the values and teachings of a system not yet included
in any educational program, difficult of course, because we cannot
take the woods into the classroom, although some take the woods
to the parks, which is sad. Let's bring the boys close to good
scouting and take them away of the sidewalks. Let's teach our
boys to learn the art of the good leader within an environment
where there are greater demands. Soft scouting is not scouting,
we have to suffer it outdoors.

Roland Philipps, on July 7, 1916 you were heroically
killed in action, but your heritage still lives on. Lead us from
the camp you settled next to the Lord and give us the wisdom to
present to our society young leaders that transform their fellow
men in determined, strong and dedicated soldiers.
